These 17 Goals were built on the successes of the Millennium Development Goals, while including new areas such as climate change, economic inequality, innovation, sustainable consumption, peace and justice, and others. These goals are related – often the key to success on one will involve tackling issues more commonly associated with another. The interconnectivity of the goals ensures that if judiciously implemented there will be an increase in human development index.
The SDGs work in the spirit of partnership to make the right choices and ensure sustainable development. The initial promoters of the SDG provided clear guidelines and targets for all countries to follow according to their individual guidelines. The SDGs are an inclusive agenda.
